Private Plane Rental Prices – What You Should Know -
Private Plane Rental Prices – What You Should Know – Don’t Pay Too Much
Private plane rentals are not as expensive as most people think. There are a few things you should know before booking a private jet that will help lower the price. This article will explain a few of those ways.
First, you should consider going down to your local small airport. Most owners of private planes use online booking agents to get customers. This costs the owners a good chunk of change. If you can meet a few private plane owners then you might be able to save on rentals. It is always best to form a relationship with an owner and that way you can save on multiple flights.
Another way to lower prices for plane rentals is to you an online booking agent. There are many on the internet. What you need to ask them is if they have any dead head flights going your way. Dead head flights are where a plane takes people from point A to point B, but then doesn’t have any passengers going back. If you are going from point B to point A, you can really save a lot of dollars. If your schedule is flexible, this is the best way to fly.
You need to consider your time as a cost as well. Many people spend hours flying commercial jets. If your time is worth $50 dollars or more an hour then flying a private jet will save you time and ultimately money. It only takes a few minutes to get from the parking lot to the jet and then into the air. It’s wonderful.
How to Run a Charter Plane Business – The Step
How to Run a Charter Plane Business – The Step by Step Guidance
For many of us, beginning a business may become a challenge. Even if we already have deep understanding about the business and have something in mind about what are we going to do, starting a business still can be a difficult task to do. And what about establishing a charter plane business?
I believe that this business is a sophisticated business for many of us. Do not be worry though, as it is not as sophisticated as manufacturing an air craft. It becomes difficult since we are trying to compete with a service that lots of people are acquainted with and there are already top famous names out there which already run the same business much earlier than we do. However, I do believe that by knowing how to start and manage this business properly, there will be a greater chance for us to carry out this business successfully. And here, I have some guidance steps that will help you to start this business.
Step 1. One of the biggest monthly expenses when you are setting up a charter plane business is the pilot salary. So, instead of having your pilot fly your plane, get your own pilot license and fly your plane yourself. By doing this, you will get rid of the pilot salary from your monthly expense at the beginning and thus keep your monthly costs down.
Step 2. You need to collect all necessary information about how to set up a charter plane business. You need to find what licenses are required to start such a business. Moreover, you need to see the price your competitor is charging for chartering a plane, evaluate and examine that price to find your own price that suitable with your charter plane business and your target market or future customers.
Step 3. Purchase a plane. You are the head of your charter plane business and a good, well maintained plane is the backbone of your great business. You do not need to look for a brand new plane at the beginning. They are very expensive. You should pay more attention to what plane are you going to buy since your plane performance represents your business. Do not buy an old plane. Yes, they are cheap, but people are reluctant to hire an old plane mainly because of safety matters. You can find good second-hand plane at ebay. Or if you are ready with the budget buy the new one. It is expensive but you will not regret it. It will be your best investment. Besides, your customers will like it. If you have a limited budget, there are loans you can get for this expense. Apparently, you require a plane to fly to be able to establish this business. The contacts you get when you were learning to fly probably can provide you information of where to buy a plane.
Step 4. Surely, you cannot run a charter plane business alone. You need human resources. You may find friends or family looking for a part time job or a career change who are probably interested in working with you running this business. You can hire a years-of-experience accounting or secretary or promoting director or an IT but remember, at the beginning you just start your business and you possibly do not have consistent massive income for your business. Be careful in choosing people working in your business.
Step 5. Design your business plan, assess it and observe if it is possible to run a charter plane business. It is important for you to know how much you should charge to determine your income and how much expenses you will deal with. This way, you will know whether your new business is feasible business option or not.
Step 6. Advertise, promote, advertise, promote and advertise. Yes, it is important to advertise your new business and get as many as traffic as possible and convert the traffic into money. This is, however, definitely a challenging task. The contacts you get while taking the flying lesson may help you. Word of mouth, nowadays, is still the most powerful way to advertise. The trick here is to examine the weaknesses of your competitors, find what your competitors is not offering to the customers. This can be the basis for you to create your uniqueness and offer your best service to the market. Advertise your uniqueness and special service that people will get from you. Put the emphasis more on your uniqueness and your best service and it will likely drive more customers. Internet, radio and newspaper are other ways to publicize your new business.
Step 7. Keep offering the best service and you will soon have gems, the returning customers. In fact, lots of people would rather fly with a charter plane instead of commercial since commercial planes often cut their service. So, you see, it is not that difficult to win the competition. The key is not trying to beat your competitors. The key is to take care of your amazing business will be in the future, make it unique and equip it with the best service you can offer. Hopefully, you will be on your way to successfully establishing your charter plane business.

Private Plane Charter Costs – What You Should Expect When
Private Plane Charter Costs – What You Should Expect When Hiring a Private Jet
Private plane charter costs may come as some surprise to you if you have never used a charter service before, but you must take into account the costs that the company have to meet to offer a private plane charter service, and weigh that up against the benefits to you as the user when compared to flying via commercial airlines with hundreds of other people.
This is an exclusive service, so the costs that are normally borne by a whole plane full of people are falling to you and your party whatever the size. This will be a much smaller aircraft so the actual running costs are going to be lower; however, there is still the cost of the pilot to be covered and any staff that are used at any point. It is lovely to drive your car onto the runway and load your bags straight from the boot on to the plane, but the service personnel that do this for you certainly are not going to be working for free. Private plane charter costs do vary, and there are many smaller companies that have lower overheads that some of the larger charter companies that can save you even more money. In terms of service it may not be quite as polished and exclusive, but again it depends on how much you are prepared to spend and whether a first class lounge service on the flight is important, or if you just need the flexibility of charter flights but do not need the one to one silver service.
There are many small private pilots who are happy to be chartered for flights, but this is just a plane service. There will not be any fancy foods offered, just a seat in a small aircraft that can taxi you personally to your destination of choice without frills but with the simple purpose of getting from A to B on your terms. The bottom line is you can save money, but you will lose on finishing touches. Companies cannot be expected to give away their services. Ultimately the decision is yours.
Single Plane And Double Plane Golf Swings – A New
Single Plane And Double Plane Golf Swings – A New Golf Swing Theory
There’s a controversial new theory in the golfing world that puts all golfers into two camps: those who make single plane swings and those who make double plane swings.
In the book “The Plane Truth For Golfers,” Jim Hardy explains his golf swing theory and says that you can’t mix the two. He claims that this is what messes up lots of golfer’s swings. If you figure out whether you’re a single or double plane golfer, you can make sure you don’t mix them up.
Basically, a one plane golf swinger brings the arms right across the chest when he swings, keeping his shoulders, his chest, his arms and the club on more or less one plane. A two plane swinger stands straighter and swings the arms so that the club goes up in an almost vertical way.
To put it another way, one plane is the shoulders and one plane is the arms. When you swing for the golf ball, you have two choices; you can either keep your arms on the same “plane” as your shoulders, or you can swing them up higher, thus creating a second plane.
And, the way you position your shoulders and arms in relation to the rest of your body has an effect on the whole swing, from address to impact.
This is a very short description. After all, Jim Hardy wrote a whole book on the subject.
An excerpt from the book was published as an article in Golf Digest Magazine in 2005 and it’s stirred up more than a little controversial. If Hardy’s swing theory is true, it would change the way we learn golf. It would mean that there are two sets of swing fundamentals rather than one.
If the theory holds true, it may explain why you aren’t able to improve your swing. Maybe your golf instructor is a one-plane swinger and you’re a two-plane swinger.
A lot of Golf Digest’s readers found the article to be an eye opener. For some, it solved the riddle of why the techniques they were learning didn’t seem to improve their swing.
Critics of the theory point out that if you analyze the pros you’ll find that none of them are strictly one- or two-planers. Everbody has elements of both.
According to Hardy’s book, one-plane swingers tend to be more consistent with their shots. With two-plane swings, golfers have to raise their arms sometimes too high, and it can hurt their accuracy.
Tiger Woods is considered a double swinger, and you can sometimes see how he has trouble with his consistency. Vijay Singh, on the other hand, is a one-plane swinger. If you look at how those two swing, you might get a better idea of what Hardy’s plane theory means.
Even if the theory is incomplete, it at least raises some questions. It’s gotten golfers thinking more about planes in the last few years. More people will be looking into how the planes of your shoulders and arms affect your swing.
One Plane Golf Swing – The Perfect Place For Beginners
One Plane Golf Swing – The Perfect Place For Beginners
Ever wonder how Tiger Woods is able to execute the perfect golf swing every single time? If you have plans of becoming the next golf legend in the making, then you have to be ready to exert a lot of time, patience, and effort on your part. Should you equip yourself with these, no dream is definitely unattainable. And when you are aiming for the perfect swing, then you should start with the one plane golf swing.
If you are an avid golf fan, then you surely would notice that there are so many pros in the circuit who prefer the double plane golf swing to its single counterpart. But since they are already pros in the field, the complicated nature of this type of swing would no longer be complicated for them anymore. However, being the beginner, it would actually be better for you to start with the basic – the single plane golf swing.
For this type of swing, you have to remember one thing – keep a very strong and rigid triangle with your shoulders as upper points and your cupped hands as the bottom point. This is very important since you will be using these three points when you move in for the swing. However, you should also remember that while keeping the triangle as rigid and firm as possible, you should still have your wrists and your arms fairly loose and relaxed. This is so as to allow your arms and wrists to establish a snapping action for your swing. To foster the accumulation of strength, the torque of your swing would have to be put into play.
So, why do the professionals prefer the double plane golf swing to this particular type when this is much simpler to execute? As mentioned above, your hands would be cupped for this particular swing. The double plane golf swing does not require you to have your hands cupped at all. Cupped hands do not really allow you to exert a lot of power into the swing. As a result, your drive would be significantly shorter and of less power with the single plane golf swing as compared to its double counterpart. But do not fret just yet because though the single plane may not be as powerful, it still provides much precision – and we all know how important precision is in the game of golf.
In the end, the single or the one plane golf swing is certainly the best place to start if you are a mere beginner at the game. Once you have panned out the basics well enough, then you can start gunning for double stint.
The Secrets Of The Single Plane Golf Swing For Consistent
The Secrets Of The Single Plane Golf Swing For Consistent Golf Shots
Golfers just about everywhere are constantly searching for golf swing tips to improve their game. The single plane golf swing is often regarded as the simplest method for beginner golfers as there is less moving parts in the swing to get correct and it is easily repeatable resulting in more consistency when striking the golf ball.
It is actually less complex than the two plane swing and you’ll take your game to new levels with these golf swing tips. If you are struggling with problems getting consistency into your golf shots, then you might want to consider using the single plane golf swing. These golf tips refer to the single plane swing.
The main features of a single plane golf swing are:
Having good set-up basics and fundamentals are crucial for a good swing irrespective if you are using the one plane or two plane swing.
With the one plane swing the torso is bent forwards from the hips slightly more than in the two plane swing. The club and leading arm form an almost straight line at set-up. This position allows the swing to be rotated around the spine at an angle which helps to control and keep the club on the same plane.
If an imaginary line is extended from the butt of club through the body it would exit somewhere just below the shoulder blades, this is not precise as we all have different body proportions.
The plane of the swing is set at address and the club is swung on this same plane throughout when using this technique. The swing is flatter with this swing and the arms swing more around the body, on the same plane as the shoulders, so at the top of the backswing the lead arm is more across the shoulders rather than above as it would be with the two plane action.
Throughout the single plane swing the arms operate in relation to the body and stay on a similar plane to the shoulders. So at the top of the swing the lead arm is across the front of the shoulders. The power of the swing comes from turning the shoulders against the resistance of the lower body which stays relatively passive.
The single plane golf swing maintains the spine angle and body angles throughout the swing and the position at impact mirrors that of the set-up position. Mastering these golf swing tips will produce more consistency to your golf shots and lower scores on your card.
16 Tips to Surviving Plane Travel with Kids
Travelling with kids can be a challenge, as any parent knows. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the stress and nerves. Make sure your family travels without incident by following these tips.
1.Book online. Instead of dragging kids into a travel agency where they will most certainly get bored as you look over your options with the agency, check out travel websites online. You can spend as much time as you need once the kids are in bed, or while they are at school.
2.Book everything ahead of time. That means arranging and paying for not only the airline tickets, but the hotel and car as well. When you arrive at your destination, there won’t be any wandering around trying to find a vacancy, you’ll just pick up the car and go straight to your hotel. You can even take a virtual tour of many hotels online.
3.Be prepared. Bring along toys and things to keep your kids occupied on the plane. For older kids, surprise them with a fun travel game, new Game boy cartridge or a coloring book. If the flight will be particularly long, buy several treats beforehand and store them in your carry-on bag, pulling out a new item when the kids get bored and whiney.
4.Build the anticipation. For kids age 2-10, you can build up the idea of flying, especially if they haven’t been on a plane before. Learn about the kind of plane you’ll be flying on and talk frequently about how exciting it will be before you leave.
5.Pack snacks. Sure, the airlines give out snacks, but some companies are cutting back on freebies such as peanuts (which aren’t appropriate for children under 2 anyway) and cookies. To make sure your child doesn’t get grumpy waiting for his meal, bring along Cheerios or a sandwich.
6.Separate siblings. If your kids tend to squabble, it might be a good idea to sit between them! This keeps them from fighting over elbow space at least and keeps them at arms length so they can’t smack each other. Switch seats halfway through the flight if there is a window seat involved to avoid problems.
7.Play music. Bring along an iPod or Walkman for each child so they can listen to music. It helps ease nerves and keeps them occupied for good chunks of time!
8.Layer clothing. When flying from one hemisphere to another, there are climate changes to take into consideration. If you are leaving from a warm climate, but will be landing in a colder place, remember to bring sweaters for everyone onto the plane. They won’t help if you have them all packed away in the suitcases. And, if you will be landing in a warmer place, remember to wear light clothing under your winter wear.
9.Hang on to them. In a crowded airport, it is all too easy to lose a little one. Even if you lose sight of your toddler for a few seconds, it will give you a heart attack and it’s best to avoid the situation. All kids under the age of 10 should be required to physically touch a parent at all times. If you have varied ages, you might assign older kids to be responsible and hold the hands of smaller ones. This might also be a good time to buy a child-harness and use it on younger children who have the tendency to stray.
10.Stay hydrated. On airplanes, it’s very common to become dehydrated since the air is recycled and dry. To avoid this, make sure you drink lots of water and that your kids do, too. This is particularly important for nursing mothers.
11.Carry medications with you. Don’t ever leave medicine in your check-in bags, they could get lost and trying to get another prescription medicine can be a real hassle when you’re miles from home. Even over-the-counter meds like cough syrups and allergy relievers should be packed in your carry-on luggage, the last thing you want to be doing when you arrive is searching for Benadryl.
12.Fly at night. When you’re travelling with a baby, it is often a good idea to take a night flight so the child will sleep during the entire flight. This may work for older kids, too!
13.Keep the kids busy. Bring along paper and crayons so they can make cards and drawings for loved ones. These make great gifts if you are going to stay with family or friends. If not, it can be the start of a drawn travel journal to be shared with friends when they return.
14.Make it an adventure. Look out the windows at the clouds and see what you see, animals, castles, etc. What would your children do if they lived on top of the clouds? Ask the stewardess if your kids can visit the cockpit to see how the plane is flown and have them tell you all about it when they return. Most long flights are perfectly willing to have children visit with the pilots for a couple of minutes once they have reached cruising altitude.
15.Play games. There are plenty of travel games that can be adapted to planes. Word games are best for this, they can be kept fairly quiet and distract children. Memory games keep kids so busy trying to remember the order of items that they forget to fight or squirm.
16.Take shifts. If you are travelling with your spouse or another adult, it’s a good idea to take shifts with the kids. While one adult stays with them in the waiting area, playing a game, the other can go pick up the tickets and make other arrangements. Same goes for picking up your luggage and finding the rental car.
Plane travel doesn’t have to be a nightmare, if you prepare ahead of time. You know best what your kids like to do and what sort of things will distract them, these should be your surprises. For example, if you know that your son adores I Spy books, get him a new one to look at on the plane. And if your daughter is dying to get the newest boy band cd, surprise her with it once you take off.
Remember, keep things fun and safe and everything will go a lot smoother for you and your family.
Traveling With an Infant on a Plane
Travel, especially international travel, can be stressful enough but for someone with a new infant, taking an international flight can be especially daunting. Not to worry, however. Airlines know that many parents fly with their infants and therefore they do the best they can to accommodate their youngest passengers.
The first hurdle to traveling with an infant is the security check. Although airlines require all carry-on liquids to be in three ounce containers and held entirely in a one quart Ziploc bag, an exception is made for infant formula and breast milk. Parents are allowed to pack as much formula as they can fit in their carry-on luggage, however security check will generally be easier if the formula is divided into containers of three ounces or less. Other parents prefer to pack the formula dry and add water in-flight; just make sure it is pre-measured to avoid messes.
Families with small children are generally given extra time to board the plane, usually after the first and business class passengers but before the general economy class. Your stroller can be taken right up to the entrance of the plane. There you need to fold it and leave it for the crew to pack. It will be waiting for you after you exit the plane. Make sure you fold the stroller properly as the airline is not responsible for any damages caused by their employees folding your stroller for you.
Once you are on the plane, the most distressing part for your infant will most likely be during take-off and landing. The change in cabin pressure can hurt his ears. While an adult has the option of chewing gum, an infant can be best soothed by feeding or sucking on a pacifier during that time. Once the cabin pressure has settled, most infants, especially those under six months old, will be lulled by the noise of the plane’s engines and may sleep through the entire flight. Some airlines will even provide small cribs that fasten to the wall of the plane just above your seat so you don’t have to hold your infant the entire time.
Having an infant awake and crying on a plane is many a parent’s worst nightmare. First, make sure that your baby’s ear pressure has normalized. After that, the usual routine of feeding, burping or changing your baby can alleviate his crying just as it often does at home. If that doesn’t work, the cabin crew is generally understanding of your need to pace up and down the aisle with your infant after the fasten seat belt light has been turned off. If you baby still won’t stop crying, it is not your job to worry about the comfort of the other passengers. You’ve done everything you can, but sometimes babies just cry.
Both feeding and changing your baby can take place in your seat, especially if your baby is little enough. However, as most airplane bathrooms come with changing tables, it may be more polite to use them, especially when the diaper is very dirty. Breast feeding is allowed on planes; request a window seat or use an extra blanket for added privacy. If you have bottled breast milk or formula that needs to be heated up, have the attendant pour hot water in an air sickness bag and place your bottle in the bag. Check first to make sure the bag is plastic-lined so that it won’t leak.
After your baby is fed, burped, changed and hopefully asleep, relax and enjoy the flight!
Is GPS on a Plane Safe?
Ever felt the urge to carry a GPS unit on a plane? Would a GPS work inside the plane? What would it be like truing it thousands of feet in the air? A GPS is considered pretty safe for use inside a plane. You will find that some airliners allow their usage but it’s better to check their terms and conditions. You will even have to check whether the it’s allowed on the flight you are boarding. In case of doubt always ask and be informed to avoid confrontation with the law. Make sure you follow the instructions laid by the airlines, no matter how strongly you believe that it’s safe to use a GPS on the flight.
You have to get a clear signal from the satellites if you happen to carry one such device on n allowed flight. Window seats are the best option in this case. Hand held or in car GPS devices are not build to be as accurate as the navigation system of an airplane. The personal GPS unit could lack accuracy or fail to provide your location or speed during the flight.
As mobile phones are generally not allowed on most airlines, you will be out of luck if you want to use your mobile GPS feature. Turn off any voice commands specially if you have downloaded and installed any alternative funny GPS voices to avoid keeping you co-passengers from giggling.
So GPS Devices are Safe on planes when used at appropriate times, enjoy.
Inexpensive Plane Tickets
When you are planning your vacation you think of a hotel, of a city, what activities you are going to do. You think of everything and try to get it in to your budget. Trying to save everywhere you can, you rarely bother to negotiate your plane tickets. But think about it, it’s a major expense! If you could save at least one hundred (and that’s not even 10% of a ticket price), you have a hundred more to spend! So, do it. It’s not hard.
What you accept is what your travel agents offers you. You agree to whatever “best offer” he has because your hands are tied. I personally think that we should have a more free market in this area. It all seams so complicated and scary that we accept usually overvalued plane tickets. You don’t even have any ideas of how many seats should be sold in order for a plane to take off!
But by not being an informed customer you put yourself in an uncomfortable situation to negotiate. So you need to get information in order to get cheapest plane tickets. You know that some people get discounts till 200 dollars a ticket? The same plane, the same destination that I used to fly for 1200$ I can get bargains for 300 – 400 dollars. It doesn’t happen all the time, but I always find something.
Cheap plane tickets are always there. On every flight, there are several seats that are sold on ridiculously low prices. Good occasions are everywhere. But it’s for you to find them. If you know how and what to ask, you’ll get a good discount.
Plane Traveling Tips
There are plenty of things to consider when traveling on a plane that are different from when traveling in a car or other mode of transportation. This mini-series was just an overview and still only the tip of the iceberg.
There are other rules to checking in special items like firearms, skis, golf clubs, boxes, strollers and anything else that may not be in a suitcase. Security measures change all the time due to a change in rules or some event that may elevate the risk level. There are people in wheelchairs or people with certain allergies. There are delays and cancellations or mechanical situations that may change baggage requirements or the number of seats available on a plane. There are weather issues that may be in another city that make a change in your plans or in the city you are in. A good rule of thumb is to always call the airline about one week before your departure to make sure there have been no changes. Then also call the day of your departure to make sure there have been no major changes or delays The one thing you can always say about traveling is it’s always an adventure. Of course when you plan a vacation, that’s basically what you were wanting was an adventure. Maybe this mini-series gave you some good tips that you may be able to use on your next trip or at least a better understanding on how you may be a little more prepared so you have a good time. Hopefully your traveling experiences will always be enjoyable and on time and above all, you have fun and are safe.
Beginner RC Planes – What Makes the Best Beginner RC
Beginner RC Planes – What Makes the Best Beginner RC Plane
When getting started in rc flying you’re going to have to make the decision of what’s going to be your very first plane. Being a beginner pilot you are going to want a beginner plane. Let’s take a look at some of the attributes that make a good beginner plane.
1. Electric powered. Electric powered planes are much cheaper and easier to use than gas powered. You turn them on and they are ready to go. Gas powered motors need a special fuel and then you have to tune them. It’s a lot more work. Also electric planes are much cheaper than gas powered. Most beginner electric planes come with everything you need to fly. For a gas powered plane you need to purchase everything separate.
2. Top Wing design. This is a plane that has the wing on top of the plane. Having the wing on top of the plane gives it more lift. Lift helps keep the plane floating in the air. As a beginner you are going to want a plane that floats by itself, especially if you run into trouble.
3. Large wingspan. A large wingspan will also add more lift to the plane.
4. 2 or 3 channels. 2-channel planes allow you to control the up/down and side to side (turning) movement of the plane. A 3-channel will allow you to do the same, but also allows you to control the speed of the motor. This allows you to control the pitch of the plane. A 4-channel plane is too much for a beginner. The 4th channel is used to control the ailerons which are used in more advanced flying.
5. Anti Crash Technology (ACT). This is not found in very many planes, but if you find one that uses it this technology is great. These planes use sensors to check the direction of the plane. If they sense that the plane is going into a dive they take over control of the plane and adjust its altitude giving you more time to react and avoid a crash.
Following these guidelines will help you find a great beginner rc plane, one that you will enjoy flying for a long time. Good luck and happy flying.
Student Plane Tickets
To get student plane tickets, first and foremost check, compare and shop around for both student tickets and regular cheap tickets. We strongly suggest checking out the regular travel deals and comparing them with the offer that they are selling for students. Sometimes the fares sold to naive students are, though discounted, may be higher than the ones being offered to students.
Check with the airlines. Sometimes they too offer discounts for students. Continental Airlines for example, launched a frequent flyer program for students. It is a great way to obtain airline tickets for those who travel often during spring, winter and summer breaks.
Discounts for students can significantly reduce the price of an air ticket, but they never reach the low level of the base fare, the bottom price an airline must charge to break even.
One must qualify as a student in order to get any student plane tickets. Student ID often is fine for most airlines. And becoming member with student international organizations often helps in discount on airlines tickets and your hostel stays.
Sometimes you can get cheap student plane tickets if you buy them directly from the airline websites. But comparing with other online travel web sites big or small often may help to get the best travel deals.
Many college campuses have a travel agency nearby that caters to students, so you might want to start there as well. Trying all options to get student plane tickets on any airline and to any destinations is a wonderful idea. One can save significant amount of money this way.
Always be flexible in your travel plans – both outbound and inbound travel dates. And sometimes the very time of the day can make a difference in cheap airfares when buying student plane tickets. One must also try alternate airports if that can help save extra dollar.
Survive Your Next Plane Crash
Back in 1980 I flew from St Louis to Seattle to visit an old friend. It was my first plane ride as an adult, and I spent much of it working myself into a near-panic about what would happen if we went down. Before boarding the return flight, I downed about four gin and tonics inside of half an hour and spent most of that flight sleeping instead of worrying.
I didn’t fly again for over ten years. And then only because I HAD to, to get where I wanted to go. And after I read some comforting statistics about the relative safety of air travel. Still, I prefer not to look down at the waves of the Arctic Ocean…
Now I’ve learned some interesting — and possibly comforting — statistics related to air crashes and what you can do to increase your chances of survival.
First of all, remember that, according to the National Transportation Safety Board the survival rate of all airplane crashes from 1983 to 2000 was 95.7%. Yes, there were a few crashes which killed everybody on board. It happens, but they’re the rare exception (thank goodness).
In those 18 years twenty-six accidents were the most serious, yet the survival rate of even the biggest crashes was still just 76.6%. Bad news for the 23.4% who didn’t make it, but still a far cry from “we’re all doomed.”
What’s really sad is that, according to the European Transport Safety Council, 40% of plane crash fatalities happened in survivable situations. The difference between survivors and fatalities often lies in what they each do or don’t do.
Statistically, lean young men have the best odds of surviving. I personally believe it has nothing to do with genitals, just general athleticism and upper body strength. You may have to pull yourself to an exit despite smoke and carbon dioxide fumes, and then crawl through a narrow exit.
So now you have another good reason to lose weight and get in shape. In a plane wreck I’d rather be an 80 year old thin woman who works out every day than an twenty year old coach potato dude.
The most important thing you can do is prepare yourself mentally. Do not drink or take a sleeping pill before you board the plane. While you wait to take off, don’t try to sleep or put on earphones.
Pay attention to the safety instructions and the study the card. They’re not just going through motions to distract you from reading the newspaper. Even if you’re a frequent flyer and you’ve heard it many times before, pay attention. Every plane is different.
The first three minutes the plane takes off is one of the most dangerous periods. While you’re still on the ground, prepare yourself.
Look around you. Find the nearest exit. Then, in case that one is blocked, find the second nearest exit.
Count the number of rows between you and the nearest exit. If the cabin fills with black smoke and the emergency lights don’t work, counting rows is how you can still find your exit.
It may sound silly, but leave all your belongings behind. People have died because they took the time to go after their carryon bag.
Make sure your seat belt is as tight as possible while still comfortable. Practice unlocking it. After a crash, many a shell-shocked passenger has tried to press a button to unlock their seat belt as though it were an automobile seat belt. That could cost you precious seconds before you can exit the plane.
Practice the “brace position.” Keep your feet flat on the floor. Lean forward and place your forward against the back of the seat in front of you, protecting your head with folded arms. If you’re short and flexible enough, place your head on your knees with your arms folded around it. Use your pillow for added cushioning.
The eight minutes of landing is the other time when most plane crashes occur. So when your flight is nearly over, wake up and remain alert. Have your shoes — not flip flops or high heels which can easily fly off — on. You don’t want to have to run barefoot over flaming hot metal.
The airline industry calls those take off and landing periods “Plus Three/Minus Eight.” Those eleven minutes account for 80% of airplane accidents. And if you think about it, that’s a good thing. I’d rather fall a few hundred feet than from 36,000 feet up!
A Popular Mechanics article once calculated that the safest seats in the plane are near the rear. Other experts say it just all depends on what kind of crash you’re in.
According to Professor Ed Galea of the University of Greenwich in London, the safest seats are within five rows of an exit. Remember that the next time you get to choose your seat location.
Also, unless you’re sitting right next to the exit, you’re better off in an aisle seat because you can get out faster. Speed is critical.
If there is fire, keep your head down low — heat will make the smoke and carbon dioxide rise.
If you do go down in a body of water, don’t inflate your life preserver until you’re out of the airplane.
If you do reach the exit and have to evacuate — jump! Don’t try to sit down to slide. You don’t have time and neither do the passengers behind you. If it’s me right behind you and you hesitate for more than two seconds, I’m going to push you out of the plane ready or not!
Once you’re sliding, keep your arms crossed and your heels up. Once you reach the bottom, move out of the way.
Finally — between take off and landing Plus Three/Minus Eight, relax and enjoy the ride. Statistically, your risk of dying during the flight from a stress-induced heart attack are much higher than from a plane crash.
The Fundamentals of the One Plane Golf Swing
The one plane golf swing is credited to Jim Hardy. Hardy first thought that in golf, there are two fundamental sets: a two plane swing and the one plane swing. Though there are a lot of swing variations, every golfer exhibits characteristics of any of the two fundamentals sets. Hardy also pointed out that the two cannot be combined. You cannot get parts from the two plane swing and then integrate them in a one plane swing and vice versa.
There are golf experts who think that if golf players are going to be categorized, they can fall under the two fundamental sets. The ideas presented by Hardy, golf experts say, can help better understand the physics of the golf swing. This entry is going to focus on one plane golf swing.
In the one plane golf swing, the spine angle is further bent over when addressing. This allows the player’s shoulders to rotate, resulting to a swing. Hardy said that to be able to swing perfectly, the hands should be located under or inside one’s chin during time of address. During backswing, the secret is to swing the arms around. However, limit this behind one’s body instead of moving the arms toward the front.
During transition, what you need to do is to rotate your body towards the left. You should do this, however, after you have placed your weight to the left side of your body. You will notice that there’s an effortless rotation. For the downswing, the golfer will have more freedom to rotate. One’s club as well as arms and shoulders are already positioned properly.
So those are the fundamentals of the one plane golf swing. Hopefully you can use these tips to improve your own golf swing and lower your score.
Private Plane For Hire – Advantages of Hiring a Private
Private Plane For Hire – Advantages of Hiring a Private Jet
A private plane for hire can actually be one of the best ways to travel. You could be very glad that you looked into it as the benefits are plenty, and if you play your cards right it could actually be just as cheap, if not cheaper, than a commercial flight.
Imagine the chaos at one of the large airports. From the moment you pull up in a taxi outside it is just wall to wall with people, bustle and noise and this is just the beginning. You are going to have had to be at the airport at least 2 hours in advance of your flight, and then begin the long queuing and waiting process. You have to queue up to get your bags weighed and checked in and make sure you have a valid ticket, stand again in another queue to get through airport security checks which in the current climate are very strict and you feel degraded and feel that your privacy is invaded, and then finally you can take your seat in the airport lounge, which isn’t always any fun either, and then what seems like a year later finally the boarding call comes over the loud speaker. You are then on the plane, but sometimes this leads to even more waiting if other people are not where they should be when they should be.
Now imagine a much more relaxed scenario with a private plane for hire. This time you sit at home or work in the office until about half an hour before the flight. You get in the car or taxi and it takes you to the runway and the waiting plane. You step out of your car, straight onto the plane, your bags are loaded and you are greeted with a smile and a bit of personal attention. Generally, a much more pleasant experience! A private plane for hire will also enable you to fly at a time that suits you better. Again, no more relying on the commercial airlines and their flight times! In general, a private plane for hire is going to be a much nicer experience especially if you can get a reasonable price.
Mental Plane and Higher Consciousness
A Miniature Universe.
Looking at ourselves, we have a Physical Body. Beyond and within us are concentric layers called the Subtle Bodies. The formation of these layers or Bodies is called the Subtle Anatomy. Layered like onion rings, they are the Etheric, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual Bodies. These layers spread laterally for meters around you. As well, they stretch upward into the Cosmos. Also, they form concentric dimensions inwardly into the Eight Dimension where our Seed of Existence sits. Our God Nature is seated and centered within each one of us. It is only natural that we find ourselves sitting in the presence of God!.
Sum Total of Earthly Existence.
We are the sum total of two evolutions. The Cosmic Evolution and our personal Karmic Evolution. How far we have Evolved is seen in our Conscious Awareness. How much do we understand of our core God Nature?. We are so astoundingly beautiful and complex. Our construction is intricate. One Structure within the other. One level forms the basis for the next. The Divine Plane, the First Plane, forms into the Monadic Second Plane. That in turn divides into The Trinity of Spirit expressed as Wisdom, Will and Active Intelligence.
This Trinity in turn translates into Love, Knowledge and Sacrifice on the Higher Mental Plane, the Higher Self. In turn this becomes the Blueprint of direction and purpose for the individual’s life on earth. This Blueprint is in turn expressed through the virtues, vices and glamours. These then form the work on which the incarnating Higher Self needs to AWAKEN through. It is a journey of Self Discovery. How beautiful and truly loved we are!.
It gets Physical.
The Planes’ multidimensional intricacy allow the Creator to form The Trinity of Spirit and The Spiritual Triad. These in turn provide the construct for the Higher and Lower Mental Planes. The Higher Mental Plane is where the Higher Self resides. The Lower Mental Plane allows the formation of our Subtle Bodies as well as our Physical Body. Between the Higher and Lower Mental Planes lies the The Cosmic Diaphragm.
We have a Diaphragm in our Physical Body. In our physical bodies our higher functions are separated from our lower functions by our Diaphragm. So too, The Cosmic Diaphragm divides The higher Mental Plane from the Lower physical functions. It separates the Intuition from the Logic.
Let it flow.
By studying the Mental Plane we can begin to see our Physical Form taking shape. We now know where we came from and how we were made. As we study our Cosmic Structure, we are descending the Planes into more and more Physical Matter. From God to Spirit, down to Higher Mind (Causation) and finally to Physical Form. All of this relies on one principle; Unconditional Loving Connection, LOVE.
When blockages occur to this divine energy, then we get problems. The key understanding here is: Let it Flow. This River of Cosmic Love needs to be FREE. It needs TO BE whatever it’s Creator intended. This applies to anything in the Cosmos; Planet, Population or Person. We are doing what the Cosmos is doing. Can you feel it breathing?.
Free to be ME.
When Energy is prevented from flowing freely, it forms Blockages and Imbalances. When there is a blockage or imbalance anywhere in our: Health, Awareness or Action, we suffer. When we go within and with it, we see and become the wonder that is life. When our Spiritual Path, Higher Self urges and our Earthly Physical limitations are working together we can have Growth and Fulfillment. This is where we can bring together: Who we are, Where we are and What we are doing. What has the Cosmos got in-store for you?.
Cheap International Plane Tickets
Cheap International Plane Tickets
The best place to buy cheap international plane tickets is online. We’ve tried travel agencies and they can’t compete with the discount ticket websites. You can search google (“cheap airfare South America”, for example), or go straight to one of the well-known sites, like Expedia, Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, Hotwire or Priceline.
I just did a quick search for the cheapest airfare from Tucson, Arizona, to Buenos Aires, Argentina, using the five sites mentioned. They ranged from $1221 down to $873, and there were fares as high as $3728. Hotwire happened to have the cheapest, but they were the worst of the five when I searched for a domestic flight earlier. You cannot say which service will find the cheapest international plane tickets from week to week. My number one money-saving tip is to always check several websites when shopping for inexpensive flights.
My Accidental $1000 Discovery
Before going to Ecuador, I searched several websites that deal in cheap international plane tickets. The cheapest airfare from Traverse City, Michigan to Quito, was $1720. Out of curiosity, I checked Miami to Quito, and it was only $400. Airfare from Traverse City to Miami was $300. Book two separate flights and save more than $1000! The discount sites aren’t set up to check in this way (yet), so you have to do this on your own.
If your first flight is late and you miss the second, you may not get a refund, but it is still cheaper (every time I checked) to just book a flight to Miami and catch a flight to Quito without a reservation, thus avoiding this problem. This strategy is best for those in towns without international airports. If you live in Miami, you already have cheap international airfare.
Courier Flights
As an air courier, you can get really cheap international plane tickets. Courier companies ship material in the luggage space of an aircraft passenger because it can be quicker, cheaper, and more reliable than sending the shipment unaccompanied, since checked luggage bypasses many of the typical customs delays. The courier company begins by purchasing airfare, and then they resell the plane tickets to you. In exchange for your luggage space, they give you a discount on the airfare.
An Example Of A Courier Flight
I saved over $150 on my plane tickets this way when I went to Ecuador the first time. I had to walk several suitcases of car parts through customs, but there was a representative of the courier company on either end, and I did get to look inside the luggage, so I knew what I was carrying. I had to carry a plane propeller on the return trip, but it wasn’t too much trouble, and made a good story.
Limitations To Courier Travel
You generally can only be an air courier if you travel alone. Once in a while, a courier company will have opportunities for flights on or near the same date. Otherwise, your travel partner can pay full fare on the same flight. You also can usually only bring carry-on luggage, since the point is for the shipping company to use your checked luggage allowance.
Really Cheap Courier Flights
Sometimes air couriers fly internationally for free, and almost always very cheap. It is a matter of how badly the company needs you and how flexible you can be (can you fly to Paris on Friday?). In general air courier opportunities are becoming rarer, due to the recent heavier regulation of international flights. There still are opportunities for cheap tickets, though. You can find out more at The Air Courier Association Website (www.aircourier.org). The ACA can also help you get really cheap plane tickets by way of airline ticket wholesalers, discounters, last minute specials, and stand-by travel.
More Tips On Cheap International Plane Tickets
When searching for fares using the discount websites, try several different departure and return dates if you can. The difference of a day or two can save you a lot. There is little logic to airfare pricing, so don’t try too hard to figure it out. Just be aware that if you leave on Friday instead of Wednesday (or vice-versa), you may save $100.
Check the boxes that say “any time” for departure and “2 or more connecting flights”. Even if you aren’t sure that you want to leave at midnight, see what your options are-the savings might change your mind. Whenever the search criteria allow you choices, take the ones that are the least restrictive for the airlines. Again, if the savings aren’t enough, you can always book first class, direct flights, or whatever you prefer.
Buying your plane tickets at least a week in advance is usually cheaper. Also, there can be a dramatic difference (but not always) if your trip is over thirty days. You may want to cut it from 32 days to 30 to save hundreds of dollars on your fare. Play with the dates on one of the websites mentioned. You never know what you might discover.
Want To Go Really Cheap?
You can take a bus to a major city, if you don’t live in one, and then take an international flight from there to save quite a bit of money. My wife and I recently went to Ecuador for six weeks. The cheapest discount website plane tickets we could find were $3400 for the two of us. By taking a bus to Miami ($352 round-trip for 2), then flying from there to Quito ($622 round-trip for 2), we saved over $2400 – even after the taxi fare from the bus station to the airport. That’s a lot of money to us, certainly worth an extra day-and-a-half on a bus. (The whole six weeks cost less than $2500.)
The bottom line is that if you spend a few minutes or an hour to do some research, you might save hundreds of dollars. Good luck and happy travels.
